A Weekend Away in Wales
A few weeks ago I did something that I have never done before; I headed away for a weekend in a rented cottage in Wales.
This wasn’t the only first of the weekend – it was also the first time me and the new boyfriend headed away for the weekend together – so it was a real test of whether or not we’d get on being in a confined space for four days! As it turns out, we got on like a house on fire, and I have a sneaky suspicion that the stunning setting of the holiday cottage may have had something to do with it.
We stayed in Blue Barn Cottage, which was small yet perfectly formed. It had an open fire, exposed beams, a mezzanine bedroom and the most stunning view from the bedroom window. There were sky lights so the cottage felt very bright and open, yet there was also thick curtains and lots of throws if you wanted to cuddle up and feel a bit more snug!
The weekend was an incredibly lazy one involving a lot of sleep (I didn’t wake up until 2pm on one of the days – incredible!), watching films, watching TV and eating. Could there be a better combination? We went to the cutest little country pub for food on Sunday which was so good we went again on Monday (I actually ordered the same thing both times).
It was an incredibly relaxing weekend away despite spending 45 minutes in a lay by on the way home waiting for the AA to turn up. But hey, it’s these mishaps that makes things memorable isn’t it?
Thank you so much for reading!
