There are a few things in life that you just don’t turn down; a brew and the opportunity to spend an evening surrounded by cake. A few weeks ago I received an invitation to join The Hut at Hey Little Cupcake in Manchester for a cake decorating class and you can bet your sweet-behind I said yes!
Hey Little Cupcake is an adorable little cafe in Spinningfields and if you’ve never been before I highly recommend taking a visit. The smell of freshly baked cakes that greeted me when I opened the door was incredible and it has the sweetest decor. Our decorating class was ran by head baker Sean who showed us how to create little roses out of icing as well as how to hollow out cakes to put in fillings and how to properly use an icing bag! My first rose was an absolute fail (I am not a cake decorating natural) but Sean very kindly let me have the rose he’d made to show us what to do.
It was quite an intimate event, which meant it was lovely to have a nice chat and giggle with everyone whilst we learnt how to decorate our cupcakes from the master, Sean. The thought behind the event was that a cake decorating class would be something that customers of The Hut would like to do and I can confirm – it was an absolutely lovely way to spend an evening!
Thank you so much to Lily from The Hut who invited me along and for Sean for being a fabulous teacher – I’ll be putting roses on my cupcakes forevermore!
